PC-ABS (Polycarbonate-ABS blend) is a high-performance engineering filament combining polycarbonate’s exceptional strength and heat resistance with ABS’s ease of printing and toughness. This synergistic blend produces a material with superior mechanical properties suitable for demanding functional applications in automotive, aerospace, and industrial environments.

PC-ABS Material Properties
With tensile strength of 55-65 MPa (higher than ABS and PLA) and impact strength of 40-50 kJ/m² (3-4x higher than standard ABS), PC-ABS is exceptionally durable. The heat deflection temperature reaches 110-120°C at 1.82 MPa, making it suitable for elevated temperature applications. Our PC-ABS HF High Flow grade offers improved processability.
Printing Guidelines
Print at 270-290°C nozzle temperature (hardened steel recommended) with 100-110°C bed temperature using PEI or similar high-adhesion surface. An enclosed printer is essential—target 40-50°C chamber temperature for optimal results.
Applications
PC-ABS is used for automotive instrument clusters, functional prototypes, and under-hood components. In aerospace, it’s suitable for interior brackets, ducting, and structural prototypes. Electronics applications include durable housings, connectors, and insulators.

PC-ABS 3D Printing — Frequently Asked Questions
Is PC-ABS stronger than regular ABS?
Yes, PC-ABS offers 50-100% higher impact strength (40-50 kJ/m2 vs 20-25 kJ/m2 for ABS) and significantly better heat resistance with HDT of 110-120C at 1.82 MPa. This makes it suitable for under-hood automotive applications and functional prototypes.
Do I need a special nozzle for PC-ABS?
Yes, always use hardened steel or ruby nozzles for PC-ABS since polycarbonate is highly abrasive. Standard brass nozzles will wear rapidly. Increase nozzle temperature by 5-10C vs brass. Nozzle temperature: 270-290C with hardened steel.
Where can I source PC-ABS materials?
Nylonplastic is a specialized manufacturer established in 2005, ISO9001/14001/45001/IATF16949 certified. We supply PC-ABS in both filament for 3D printing and sheet/rod forms for CNC machining. Our PC-ABS HF grade offers improved processability. Contact us for free samples and bulk pricing.

FAQ
When is PC-ABS Blend — The Best of Both Worlds for Durable 3D Printed Parts a good option?
PC-ABS Blend — The Best of Both Worlds for Durable 3D Printed Parts is a good option when fast iteration, complex geometry, low tooling cost, or low-volume production is more important than molded-part unit cost.
What should be checked before choosing PC-ABS Blend — The Best of Both Worlds for Durable 3D Printed Parts?
Check part size, material properties, surface finish, dimensional tolerance, heat exposure, load direction, and whether post-processing is required.
How does PC-ABS Blend — The Best of Both Worlds for Durable 3D Printed Parts compare with CNC machining?
3D printing can create complex shapes quickly, while CNC machining is often stronger for precise surfaces, tighter tolerances, and production-grade materials.
What affects the cost of PC-ABS Blend — The Best of Both Worlds for Durable 3D Printed Parts?
Cost depends on material, build volume, print time, layer height, support removal, finishing, inspection, and the number of parts in the build.
