PC Polycarbonate Material Overview
PC (polycarbonate) resin pellets are reviewed against the application, processing method and appearance requirements. Nylon Plastic supports material selection and the connection to custom manufacturing when finished parts are required.
Start with your current grade or application brief. Optical, mechanical, thermal and electrical requirements are confirmed for the selected formulation before quotation.

PC Technical Data and Grade Confirmation
Use this checklist to request comparable grade data. There is no single set of performance values that applies to every PC compound.
| Decision item | What to specify | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Material identity | Current supplier grade or the application to be reviewed. | Selected grade name and current TDS. |
| Appearance | Clear, translucent, opaque or a color reference; acceptable surface defects. | Appearance requirements and approval sample. |
| Flow and processing | Injection molding or extrusion; part geometry and wall thickness, if relevant. | Grade processing guide and applicable flow test conditions. |
| Mechanical and thermal requirements | Loads, impact conditions and service temperature. | Relevant TDS data and project validation requirements. |
| Flame and electrical requirements | Required rating, test method and applicable part thickness. | Documentation for the exact formulation and test conditions. |
| Reinforcement and modifications | Whether reinforcement, UV exposure or another modification is required. | Formulation availability and the matching grade documentation. |
| Purchasing information | Estimated quantity, delivery destination and required documents. | Quoted scope, quantity and document availability. |
How to Choose a PC Compound
| Selection route | Typical project question | Confirm before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance-led selection | Transparent covers, lighting parts or visible housings. | Optical appearance, surface quality and application suitability. |
| Structural selection | Housings, brackets or components exposed to load and impact. | Loads, temperature, dimensions and any reinforcement requirement. |
| Electrical selection | Electrical housings or components with specified safety requirements. | Required rating, part thickness and exact-grade documentation. |
| Outdoor or custom-color selection | Parts exposed to light, weather or defined color requirements. | Exposure conditions, color reference and project-specific validation. |
These are project review routes, not separate certified products. Reinforcement or flame modification can change appearance and other properties; review the whole requirement set together.
PC Applications
Automotive headlamp lenses, LED light covers and protective eyewear lenses. PC is used for transparent parts that need light transmission and impact resistance. Clear and light-diffusing grades serve different optical needs; automotive lenses may also need a protective coating.
Electrical enclosures, electronics housings and instrument covers. PC is used for protective housings and clear windows over meters and displays. Where flame resistance is required, a flame-rated grade must be selected for the part.
Machine guards, appliance covers and equipment viewing panels. PC provides visibility through a protective cover, helping users see moving parts, controls or the contents of an appliance. Outdoor covers need a grade suited to sunlight and weather exposure.

Why Work with Nylon Plastic?
Material selection
Share the application or reference grade so formulation requirements and available documentation can be reviewed.
From pellets to parts
Continue with the drawing, quantity and critical features when your project also needs molded components.
One-stop project review
Connect material, design, tooling and production requirements through the existing project review process.
PC Material Questions
Can I request a quote without a part drawing?
For a material inquiry, share the application, reference grade if available, appearance requirements and estimated usage. Add a drawing when finished-part manufacturing is also required.
Which datasheet applies to this product?
This page is a PC material selection and inquiry entry. Request the current TDS for the specific formulation proposed for your application.
Are all PC compounds transparent or flame retardant?
Appearance and flame requirements must be confirmed for the selected formulation. Do not infer a rating or optical specification from a family name or gallery illustration.
